Therapeutic Coaching
Therapeutic coaching is different from psychotherapy in that it is not focused on any particular mental health diagnosis. It is a form of active support that includes

setting short- and long-term goals

developing strategies to attain those goals

understanding blocking beliefs around self that prevent forward motion

removing self-sabotaging behaviors

enhancing interpersonal relationship

improving job performance and being accountable to self.
Clients schedule a session time with Monika and the session is conducted through a secure video-link that meets the same standards of confidentiality required for psychotherapy.

Clients can be reassured that they are receiving the expertise and professionalism of a licensed therapist yet it is not a medical service like psychotherapy. You do not have to be concerned with mental health diagnoses, medical records, involvement of health insurance, or constraints that traditional psychotherapeutic services require. As an LICSW Monika provides the therapeutic foundation, expertise and understanding of the client’s needs, but acts in the capacity of a coach not a psychotherapist. In addition, you are not limited by location and can receive coaching services from any state or country.

It is important to be aware that therapeutic coaching is not appropriate for people with chronic untreated major mental health diagnoses or emotional instability requiring a higher level of care, or people with suicidal history or current thoughts. These require a higher level of care and client will be referred to a higher level of care if these arise. If a client has a previous diagnosis that requires medication, they need to be under the ongoing care of a prescribing doctor to monitor their medication and diagnostic needs. Therapeutic coaching is not psychotherapy.

Therapeutic coaching clients schedule sessions based on your specific needs and goals. Frequently a new coaching client will start with weekly or biweekly sessions if appropriate. I will work closely with you to assess progress and setbacks, formulating strategies to help you achieve success around the goals that you are setting and the aspects of your life in which you are wanting more insight. The timeline and number of sessions is determined by the client and coach based on progress and need related to the client’s individual goals.
